Introduction to RTITB Forklift Operator Novice Training
At Viamaster Training, we offer an all-encompassing and certified forklift training program, accredited by RTITB, designed to cater to both novices and seasoned operators. All of our trainers hold RTITB accreditation as instructors and examiners. Our extensive industry experience equips us to comprehend the operational needs of our business clients, allowing us to train and assess forklift operators in accordance with the latest industry and training standards.
Novice Fork Lift Truck Training – 4 Days

Dates throughout the year: In Centre or Customer Premises
Duration: Up to 4 days dependant on number of candidates
Qualification: RTITB NORS Licence or In House Certification
Designed for:
- Candidates with little or no experience of operating FLT
- Company Compliance with Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations PUWER
- Enable FLT Operators to gain the basic skills and knowledge required to operate conventional fork lift trucks safely and gain an FLT Operator Licence or Certificate.
Note: We also offer to do the training at your premises. Cost from £495+VAT per day for up to 3 Operators, duration 3 to 5 days depending on number of trainees.

Course Outline
- Comprehensive theory and practical skills in safe forklift operations.
- Deep dive into the Operator’s safety code.
- Exploration of the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974).
- Daily and pre-shift inspection techniques along with maintenance practices.
- Updates on any new legislation impacting safe working practices.
- Corrections of common errors in truck operation and stacking/racking procedures.
- Training in low, eye, and high-level racking.
- Final practical and theoretical assessment.

Who Should Attend?
- Individuals with minimal to no experience operating Fork Lift Trucks (FLT).
- Companies aiming to be compliant with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER).
- Operators seeking foundational skills and knowledge to operate conventional forklift trucks safely and acquire an FLT Operator Licence or Certificate.
Note: HSE recommends FLT Operator Refresher Training every 3 years, with a maximum of 5 years. Ensure your compliance is up to date by getting in touch with us.

Learning Outcomes & Benefits
Novice Forklift Training is deliverable both at our Castleford-based centre, which meets the RTITB standards for forklift operator training, or off-site at the customer’s premises. We offer different accreditation options: RTITB Nationally Recognised Licence (NORS), Company In-House Operator Accreditation, or HSE Compliance Authorisation to Operate. Each employer receives an FLT operator compliance file that aligns with HSE guidelines.
