Introduction to Managing & Supervising (MHE) Course

Our Managing & Supervising Material Handling Equipment (MHE) operations course enables managers and supervisors to identify their responsibilities regarding MHE operations. The course will also equip them to identify and apply steps to minimise risks related to MHE in the workplace. Successful completion of the course will require candidates to complete a theory test and hazard perception test.

The requirement of PUWER is “Every employer shall ensure that any of his employees who supervises or manages the use of work equipment has received adequate training for purposes of health and safety, including training in the methods which may be adopted when using the work equipment, any risks which such use may entail and precautions to be taken.”

    • To outline legislation affecting the safe operation of Materials Handling Equipment and to explain supervisor/manager’s responsibilities in relation to the workplace environment, pre-use inspections

     

    And thorough examination, training requirements, and training records, including authorisation of Operators to operate on company premises;

    • To describe the function of a forklift truck and to explain factors that affect its stability, in order that Supervisors recognise safe and unsafe practices.
    • At the end of the course, delegates will be able to identify HSE regulations, ACOPs, and guidance relevant to their role as MHE supervisors/managers, conduct a simple departmental/site assessment, recognising safe.

  • This course is aimed at all managers and supervisors in the warehouse and logistics industry who supervise forklift truck operators, and is a legal requirement under the puwer regulations 1998, that they understand and know how to manage and supervise FLT operators.
