About LGV training
Welcome to Viamaster Training, your trusted partner for LGV (Large Goods Vehicle) courses. We understand that investing in your future driving career is a significant decision, and we are here to provide you with transparent pricing and comprehensive training options to help you succeed.
LGV (Large Goods Vehicle) refers to commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of over 3.5 tons. To drive an LGV, you need specific qualifications and a suitable driving license. Here’s an overview:
- LGV Provisional License: Apply for an LGV provisional license through the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). This allows you to undergo training and take the necessary tests.
- Theory Test: Pass the LGV theory test, which includes multiple-choice questions and hazard perception.
- Practical Training: Enrol in an approved LGV training course. Our LGV courses cover vehicle handling, safety procedures, and manoeuvring skills.
- Practical Test: After completing the training, you must pass the practical driving test, which includes a vehicle safety demonstration and an on-road driving assessment.
It’s worth noting that there are different categories within LGV, including:
- Category C: This allows you to drive rigid LGVs over 3.5 tons (up to 32 tons) with a trailer of up to 750 kg.
- Category C+E: This enables you to drive articulated LGVs with a trailer weighing more than 750 kg.
At Viamaster Training, we prioritise your satisfaction and understand the importance of clarity when it comes to your training requirements and the total price you are paying. We have made significant investments in our training facilities, ensuring modern, reliable, and high-quality training vehicles. Our trainers are employed by us and are highly qualified and experienced. Rest assured that you will receive top-notch training from industry experts.
Unlike some providers and LGV training providers, we don’t require you to pay the full fees upfront at the time of booking. Instead, we ask for a deposit that covers your medical examination, theory test training, and theory test fees, and reserves a driving test slot for you. You can book and pay for your LGV C Initial Driver CPC and then your LGV C+E Course. We will also honour your LGV C+E discount for up to 12 months after passing your LGV C. You’ll have until 5 days before your driving course to pay the remaining balance, providing you with flexibility and peace of mind.
LGV Pass Plus Option
We are excited to announce our LGV Pass Plus Option, available since May 2015. While our pass rates are excellent, we understand that test fails can happen, resulting in retests. To address this, our Pass Plus Option offers up to 2 retests at a lower price compared to individual retests. Each retest includes 2 hours of pre-test training, use of the truck for the test, and covers the DVSA test fee at no extra cost. It’s like having an insurance policy in case you need to retake your test.
