DRIVER NVQ’S— LGV / PCV / FLT - TRAIN TO GAIN FUNDED TRAINING

National Vocational Qualifications NVQ’s are practical work-based qualifications that are recognised by employers and colleges throughout the UK. They are awarded to people who have proved their skill, knowledge and understanding of all aspects of their job. These qualifications demonstrate an individual's occupational competence in their job role. As NVQ’s are role based, Training and Assessment are undertaken whilst the employee carries out their daily role under the supervision of the NVQ Asssessor / Trainer.

NVQ’s are supported by Government funding under The Train to Gain Programme. Transport related NVQ’s are in most cases fully funded and therefore can be delivered at no cost to the employee. link to Train to Gain

Viamaster Training is accredited to deliver the following Transport Related NVQ’s:
Driving Goods Vehicles NVQ Level 2/3
Passenger Carrying Vehicles NVQ Level 2/3

Viamaster Training will work with customers to develop their staff as they carry out their job role. Whilst working towards their NVQ, the employee is supported by a Viamaster NVQ Assessor / Trainer, who provides the necessary training, assessment, and support to the driver in achieving their NVQ.

The Qualification – Driving Goods Vehicles NVQ Level 2 / 3
Developed in consultation with the freight logistics industry, and awarding bodies, Driving Goods Vehicle NVQ Level 2 / 3 is for goods vehicle drivers who can demonstrate a level of competence more than that required by the relevant statutory driving test. It requires driving skills to be shown whilst driving a goods vehicle that is laden with a typical load. Drivers must demonstrate a sufficient level of competence to complete 7 mandatory units whilst working to gain the award.

NVQ ROUTE TO THE DRIVER CPC

Can NVQs support the Driver CPC?
We are currently working with Driving Standards Agency (DSA) & the Learning Skills Council (LSC) to explore ways in which the NVQs can support the Driver’s CPC. By aligning the content of Driver CPC with the requirements of the NVQ, it may be possible for there to be some overlap in training e.g. achievement of the NVQ could also count as evidence towards the Driver CPC NVQ or vice versa. We will update our website as more information is released
