DRIVER CPC
Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) effects both new and existing Passenger Carrying & Large Goods Vehicle Drivers (PCV & LGV).
PCV Drivers: D1, D1+E, D, & D+E licences from 10th September 2008.
LGV drivers: C1, C1+E, C, & C+E licences from 10th September 2009.
There are very few Exemptions from Driver CPC
From these dates, EU Legislation requires that new drivers, in addition to gaining their PCV or LGV licence, must obtain the “Initial Driver CPC “before they can drive professionally. They must then complete a further 35 hrs of “Periodic Training” by September 2013 for PCV and September 2014 for LGV. More information on initial CPC
Existing Professional Drivers holding the relevant LGV or PCV driving licence prior to these dates are not required to obtain the “Initial Driver CPC”. Instead they must complete 35 hours of “Periodic Training” within 5 years of the relevant CPC start dates, by September 2013 for PCV and September 2014 for LGV Drivers.
All drivers will need to complete a minimum of 35 hours of periodic training within every five year period. The training will require attendance on courses but will not require drivers to take or pass examinations. More Information on Periodic CPC

The Viamaster accredited Driver CPC Programme, offers 2 training options with a choice of modules to meet driver and company training requirements.
Option 1
5 x 1 day CPC modules each of 7hrs duration. Delivered as a driver development programme over the 5 year qualification period, this option provides minimum disruption to operations, enables training costs to be spread over the qualification period, and assists in driver retention.
Option 2
5 days (35hrs) covering all modules of the CPC syllabus as one course.
